As a company we are committed to protecting the environment and do all we can to guarantee the appropriate use of natural resources for the benefit of the town, the island and the archipelago. Did you know that…?

The lights you use in the hotel are low consumption, the steam generator in the laundry and the air conditioning used in hot days are optimized to reduce energy consumption, the soap in the bathroom comes in dispensers to avoid the use of plastic, the shower and sink have water saving devices, the persons that have prepared your room have been trained specifically to care for and protect the natural resources that surround us, the hotel manages the waste disposal in a way that, as far as possible, it can be recycled or reassessed… and all that in only this room. Can you imagine all the benefits we make if we add up all the parts of the hotel?
Our social and environmental commitment is also reflected in the washing of our towels, which happens on request of the clients, in in ecological cleaning products, we buy from local providers, the water and soft drinks we offer, come in returnable glass bottles, the basic ingredients to prepare the meals, we buy in bulks, big part of the hot water is produced with solar energy, benefitting from the privileged climate that surrounds us. And take part in all of this.

How do we do this?

We have a sustainable view for the future of La Gomera and we want to make this compromise transparent so that you can take part in our sustainable way of living.

And to achieve our goals we surround ourselves with those who know most: specialists of the Garajonay National Park and sustainable companies from Spain and Germany working alongside our Hotel Gran Rey Team. Thank you for staying at Hotel Gran Rey, because only with this action you indirectly collaborate with local, national and international causes like Pro-Animal Gomera, Apanate, Docters without borders, Oxfam, SOS children villages or the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.

We also want to encourage you to write down suggestions and ideas, as many of the good practices and improvements have emerged from opinions from our guests.

Social Responsibility

Our company fully appreciates its role in the community, supporting its needs and ensuring employment at local level. From the outset the Hotel has been a socially responsible enterprise, carrying out actions in support of the local community and environment, as well as various non-governmental organisations who work for the integration of underprivileged sectors of society.

In the town this support is materialised through the promotion of direct employment, without discrimination of any form, and direct and indirect financial contributions for local cultural activities (organising committees of local festivities, cultural institutions, charity bodies, etc).

Beyond the town it takes the form of regular financial contributions to non-governmental organisations.
